About the Role
WICSCBS Inc. is seeking a visionary, highly accountable Business Manager to oversee the organization’s financial, legal, and operational affairs while supporting continued strategic growth and institutional excellence.
The post holds decision-making authority across human resources, corporate finance, contract lifecycle execution, and regulatory compliance. In this critical executive capacity, you will work in close, strategic partnership with our Research Director to enable the continuous execution of technical and research priorities, supporting both daily operations and long-term institutional development.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership & Governance
- Serve as the primary operational and management liaison to the Board of Directors, maintaining top-tier professional governance frameworks.
- Lead the preparation of all Board materials, business forecasts, performance metrics, and AGM deliverables.
- Oversee corporate records management, enterprise risk mitigation, and complete compliance with local legal frameworks.
Financial Oversight & Accountability
- Maintain absolute accountability for fiscal management, including robust budget development, monitoring, execution, and long-term financial planning.
- Oversee monthly payroll accuracy and internal financial controls.
- Deliver comprehensive quarterly financial reports to the Board and ensure year-round audit readiness for successful external audits.
Human Resources (HR) Leadership
- Drive HR strategy, including talent acquisition, performance management systems, and workforce succession planning.
- Formulate competitive compensation structures and clear corporate policies for Board approval.
- Interpret and apply Barbadian employment law accurately to foster a high-performing, compliant workplace culture.
Contracts, Legal, & Commercial Management
- Lead the negotiation, drafting, and lifecycle management of contracts with corporate members, regional partners, and service providers.
- Manage membership policies, including eligibility parameters, onboarding infrastructure, and membership fee structures.
- Collaborate with the Research Director to govern and safeguard the organization’s intellectual property (IP) assets.
Strategic Planning & Operational Risk
- Oversee day-to-day procurement, corporate insurance, asset tracking, and health & safety legislative compliance.
- Build business cases and rigorous feasibility analyses for new growth initiatives, investments, and regional partnerships.
- Manage relationships with external technical consultants (IT, HR, Legal) while retaining final internal decision accountability.
Required Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree is highly preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in business management, executive finance, or corporate operations. Experience leading operations within technical, scientific, or research-focused organizations is strongly preferred.
- Boardroom Exposure: Demonstrated experience directly supporting or working alongside a Board of Directors or regional governance body.
- Technical Skills: High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and advanced data reporting via Power BI.
- Legal Prerequisite: Must be legally authorized to work in Barbados.

- Outstanding financial and commercial judgment with a track record of steering organizations through uncertain economic landscapes.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills, with the presence and polish required to report directly to a Board and engage corporate members.
- Strong sense of urgency, structural attention to detail, and a natural willingness to take absolute ownership of institutional challenges.
